GM05) MANAGING COMBAT

The battleground is the place where you can actually see the characters of the group and where you can manage combat. The battleground is divided into two areas. The upper part is the area for the players, the lower for creatures. You can add new characters or monsters to the battleground selecting them from the listboxes; they will be shown as small icons in their part of the battleground and can drag and drop them around.

Characters battleground
When you first create a group, all the characters on the battleground will be shown with the same icon. Right-clicking on one of these icons will bring up a menu from which you can select different options. First of all, selecting "Character information" will show you the complete character sheet. You can just take a look at it or even decide to modify it. With "Change character image" you can select between 10 other types of rappresentations for the character. With "Assign damage" you choose the type and amount of damage to assign to the character. Finally with "Remove character" you can remove a character from the battleground.

Creatures battleground
Once a creature is created on the battleground it will appear as a little icon with a rappresentation of it. Some information about the creature is randomly generated based on the values you entered in the creature's sheet. You can see these values leaving the mouse on the creature's image for a few seconds. Then, right-clicking on the image will bring up a menu from which, once again, you can select different commands. By selecting "Modify creature" you can see and modify all combat values (armor class, total and current hit points, stun damage, initiative and morale) of the creature. With "Creature information" you can see the general information for that creature. "Check morale" checks the creature's morale to see if it stays on the battleground or flees. Finally "Remove creature" will remove the creature from the battleground.

Combat
As the name tells, the battleground is made mainly for combat.
First you can roll for initiative. Inititive of characters is calculated among many parameters, dexterity, weapon speed and the actual roll they make. Initiative for monsters is just plain. Then, to enter combat, just drag and drop an image (character or creature) on another.
In the case of a character attacking a creature or another character you must provide the attack roll for the character. If it hits you can then select the type (normal or stun) and amount of damage to assign to the target. When a character's or creature's hit points reach 0, they die.
Stun damage is damage provoked by stun weapons, fire, fatigue, etc. When a character's stun damage is equal to or greater than his actual hit points (not his total), that character becomes unconscious. At each minute, character's stun damage decreases by 1 point; when it goes below the actual hit points, the character becomes consciuos again.
After this, if a character scored a hit, a new window appears where you can choose how many experience points to assign to the character. The window defaults to a number which is a proportion between the total experience points of the target, it's total hit points and the amount of damage caused by the character. But you can always change this value. The hit points are then added to the character's total and if they become greater then the amount needed for level advancement, you will receive a notification saying so.
In the case of a creature attacking a character or another creature, the hit roll will be automatically done by the Game Manager. You can then apply proper damage right-clicking on the target's image and selecting the correct command as explained above.
